So, you want to create a sprite definition without grid paper, pencils or a calculator? No problem. This software does the math, the filing and the flipsides for you.
Midlife Sprite is a development tool for C64 programmers and pixel artists: a sprite definition editor with specialised drawing and inversion tools to enhance efficiency and usability. Draw the object of your choice, save your work for later and display the 63 bytes that define its shape for your program's data statements. You may be surprised that a program written entirely in Commodore BASIC can have so many features with responsive controls.
The download also includes a detailed manual on the disk image with an interactive table of contents.
A Commodore 64 computer or emulator is all you need for the most part.
The program is also compatible with TheC64 Mini and TheC64 (USB memory stick required; USB keyboard strongly recommended for the Mini).
Additional tools are needed if you want to store the program on a physical floppy disk. This program is not compatible with datasettes or tape images.
This application is freeware. You are permitted to distribute the unmodified disk image available here free of charge. You are not permitted to sell copies of the software.
